Foster Fits needs a foster home too!
Foster Fits is currently looking for an organization to host our donation bin! The bin is made from sturdy material, weather proof, and would help Foster Fits to get much more clothes, which would help much more kids! The bin has a 4 feet x 4 feet foot print. There would be no upkeep needed from host, Foster Fits staff are on call at any time to address issues including vandalism, collection, and whatever else may come up. More info about how the box operates below. If interested in hosting, please email us at fosterfitsmd@gmail.com.
How Foster Fits Bin Works:
DONATOR SIDE: All the donator needs to do is drop off the clothes they are willing to donate that would otherwise end up in a landfill at our beautiful and weather proof donation box. The donators simply open the hatch, drop the clothes in, and leave, knowing that their donation is completely secure.
FAMILY SIDE: Families in need generally have a day to prepare after they accept a child. During this time, families can visit our Instagram page (@foster_fits_Baltimore), or our website and fill out a google form. The form collects information about sizing, age range, and gender of the clothes needed, as well as either the address of the family or a common meeting place where the clothes can be exchanged.
STAFF SIDE: Here at Foster Fits we have a dedicated team of 20 members who all play an integral role keeping the organization running smoothly. First we have 3 “Collectors” who alternate collecting the clothes from the donation bins every week. In addition to collecting the donations, these members also keep a general eye on the donation bin, ensuring that if any graffiti or damage is inflicted on the bin it is dealt with promptly and efficiently. Second, we have 6 different staff members who are all on the “Washing Brigade”. The Collectors drop off the donations at the washing brigade’s houses, who then wash the clothes. After a member of the washing brigade is done with their batch of clothes, the 6 “Sorters” pick up the clothes, and categorize the donations into different groups based on size, gender, and age. From there, the 3 “Order Managers” compile lists of needed clothing ranging from family to family, as well as managing the social media and website. The Order Managers give orders to the sorters, who complete the orders. Lastly, there are 2 “Transporters” who deliver the finished orders to their destination.
BOX SPONSOR: All that we ask of the organization so gracious as to allow the box to be located on their land is a 4 foot by 4 foot plot. All other maintenance is handled completely by the staff at Foster Fits.
MORE INFO ON BOX: The box has a base that is lifted by 6 inches so that any rain water does not leech in through the bottom. The base itself is 4x4ft. The roof of the box smoothed sheet metal, slanted so that any water landing on the roof will not pool. The walls of the box are made from sanded plywood, reinforced with horizontal support beams that line the inside of the structure. There are two openings on the box, one in the front that is an inward swinging door made for donations, and the other is a small locked door in the back of the box that is made for the collectors. The box is painted and sports the Foster Fits logo. There are no sharp edges on the box, and the donation door can be opened easily from the inside to ensure there is no risk of individuals being locked inside.
